Multicultural and Indigenous Studies
For students enrolled in the former MIST program ONLY.
The "Multicultural and Indigenous Studies”" program is being terminated in 2018. Courses that were in the streams of Race and Multiculturalism and Diaspora are being moved to the Human Rights and Equity Studies Program (HREQ). Courses that were in the Indigenous Studies Stream have been moved into the new Indigenous Studies Program. Students who were enrolled in MIST prior to 2017-18 are being grandparented into the MIST program and can complete the remaining courses that they require through the former MIST courses which are migrating to HREQ or those that have been brought into the Indigenous Studies program.
"Grandparented rules" allow students to complete their studies following the rules prior to the Fall/Winter 2017-2018 Session. This includes degree requirements including general education, upper level courses, electives and credits outside the major.
The following are the program requirements.
It is also recommended to review the York Undergraduate Calendar.
